In his speech,Prof.Peng emphasized the critical role of surveying and geographic information as a strategic data resource and a new production factor. These fields serve as the foundational work that underpins economic development, national defense, societal progress, and ecological conservation. Key national initiatives, like the construction and service of the new generation of national surveying and mapping reference systems, the creation of a three-dimensional digital representation of China, and the development of the national public service platform for geospatial information, the integrated development and technological applications of “navigation, guidance, and remote sensing”, create a unified spatiotemporal base for the construction of digital China. Prof. Peng expressed his hope that research institutions, higher education establishments, and industry enterprises in this field will strengthen both international and domestic cooperation, enhance their independent innovation capability, and jointly create a new era of intelligent surveying and mapping characterized by “dynamic perception, precise cognition, and smart services”, to fully empower high-quality development and contribute to China’s unique path toward modernization.
Speech by Zhenzhong Peng, Vice Chair and Secretary General of Chinese Society for Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography
In his speech, Prof. Yiquan Qi expounded on the great significance of the ocean to human survival and development. Combined with the action plan for cultivating and expanding the top ten marine industrial chains in Jiangsu Province, he emphasized the need to leverage Jiangsu’s unique advantage of being connected to rivers and the sea, further expanding river networks towards the sea, pushing forward with determination on marine ventures, and strengthening our resolve to chart new waters. All of these efforts are geared towards creating a new pattern of marine economic development that is characterized by the synergy of land and sea, and the collaboration of rivers and oceans. Prof. Qi encouraged experts and scholars to use this platform for intensive exchange and discussions, delve into the frontiers of technology, promote interdisciplinary integration, and advance high-tech progress. In doing so, they can contribute valuable insights and strategies for Jiangsu’s “Ocean Power” strategy, the development of the ocean industry, and the establishment of a spatial-temporal big data platform.
Speech by Yiquan Qi, Chair of Jiangsu Oceanographic Society
The conference featured one main venue and four sub-venues, focusing on “Information Acquisition and Application Technology,” “Environmental Monitoring and Application,” “Geographical Science and Environment,” and “Remote Sensing and Surveying.” In the main venue, Academician Delu Pan was invited to give a special report “Thoughts on Developing Artificial Intelligence Oceanography”. The report pointed out that the advancements of artificial intelligence oceanography, marine big data, and satellite oceanography research paradigm change involve the interdisciplinary integration of earth science, information science, mathematical statistics, philosophy, and other disciplines. Therefore, it is imperative to investigate these fields. Dr. Xingxing Jiang, Prof. Roman Alvarez, Prof. Chaowei Yang of George Mason University, and Prof. Ruisheng Wang of the University of Calgary, commissioned by Yong Xue, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and Communication Academician of International Academy of Astronautics, delivered expert presentations in the main venue. Prof. Tingchen Jiang, Director of the Personnel Department of Jiangsu Ocean University, presided over the report session at the main venue.
